If Captain Picard would've gone to see him then and there, he would've not been able to convince him to go back.

Picard found him where he needed him to be. Guinan's line 'like you, he feels like he just got here' might be conterproductive to my thinking, but I feel Kirk was waiting in the cabin so that he would be convinced to go back.

When there is no time, our perception of linear time is flawed.

But yeah, frustrating that they could not be more true to the characters in the Nexus.Alainnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37940560.post-84983677234511123102009-03-18T18:40:00.000-03:002009-03-18T18:40:00.000-03:00My least favorite Trek film, by far. There are definitely some good moments, like the acting during the Stellar Cartography scene, but for the most part it just makes me cringe.

Note to Data: It WAS funny when you pushed Beverly into the water. You DO get humor. I do not know why Geordi played you like that.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37940560.post-71986330277268501552007-09-20T00:56:00.000-03:002007-09-20T00:56:00.000-03:00And if nothing else, you have Rifftrax to get anot...And if nothing else, you have Rifftrax to get another viewing out of it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37940560.post-62615305944541934432007-09-19T18:26:00.000-03:002007-09-19T18:26:00.000-03:00Believe it or not, one of my favorite parts was th...Believe it or not, one of my favorite parts was the evacuation scene. It actually looked like people had purpose (which they did lest they be blowed up real good) unlike the strolling through corridors in "Encounter at Farpoint".Dehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10132196355430345167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37940560.post-22132356353110394402007-09-19T10:46:00.000-03:002007-09-19T10:46:00.000-03:00Don't forget that the Enterprise was destroyed twi...Don't forget that the Enterprise was destroyed twice during the movie! I remember mostly because the first time, the screen faded to black, and I turned to my friend and asked, "well, now what are we supposed to watch?"

And then for that and a lot of reasons you mentioned, it was pretty hard to take the movie seriously from there. The movie might have been better served with a longer Kirk-side prologue where he works with (or usurps authority from) Harriman for a little bit. At least then Data's reunion with Spot might've gotten left on the editing room floor. Ugh!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37940560.post-10527652455405337492007-09-19T10:28:00.000-03:002007-09-19T10:28:00.000-03:00I agree that Malcolm McDowell gives a great perfor...I agree that Malcolm McDowell gives a great performance. I particularly love how he delivers the line "They say time is the fire in which we burn" to Patrick Stewart, who's reaction is equally well-done.Matthew Turnagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08115327182071167651noreply@blogger.com
