I like your attempt at a No-Prize though. This is kind of like how laser beams are light that resonates in a chamber (and also goes thru spontaneous emission) and takes on properties that you don't get just by shining a flashlight at things.

Also, back in pre-Crisis days, kryptonite was not deadly to un-super-powered Kryptonians. What if kryptonite essentially gets its powers from a yellow sun? Maybe kryptonite actually works by taking yellow sun radiation and resonating it into some frequency that is hazardous to beings who are likewise feeding off yellow sun radiation.

This is super fanfictiony, with all the negative connotations that come with the term. Probably the best thing I should do is not think so hard about kryptonite. It is what it is, you can Superman with kryptonite until you "injure" the kryptonite, and that's final.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37940560.post-66786119132528495812016-07-08T12:32:22.036-03:002016-07-08T12:32:22.036-03:00This really does set the standard that DC should b...This really does set the standard that DC should be aiming for. The trick would be to take what this movie does right -- which is everything -- without just retelling this exact story.

One recommendation: it's Superman who comes to Gotham, and doesn't understand how Gotham works. So Superman is very helpful in stopping, say, Killer Croc; but that just leaves a vacuum that Bane fills, or perhaps even Lex fills. It's all a big chess game in Gotham, and Batman learns the value of accepting help while Superman learns to take advice from others.

So many favorite moments in this, but perhaps my favorite is when Batman punctuates the Joker's apparent demise with the perfect tasteless joke. I think the Joker would approve and would consider it a tribute.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37940560.post-76140038436809059292016-07-08T10:11:33.046-03:002016-07-08T10:11:33.046-03:00This story and Last Son of Krypton actually were r...This story and Last Son of Krypton actually were released on DVD as edited-together 'movie' versions. I went and tracked them down for our rewatch; I think they're more fun in that format.
