Small week. If only I didn't have to work. Yeah, that'd be great.
"Accomplishments"
Finished Grant Morrison's Batman and Son hardcover, collecting his Batman 655 through 658, and 663 through 666. A difficult collection because the actual Batman & Son story occurs in the middle of Morrison's "many Batmen" riff that is still going on. So it starts with the Joker getting his jaw blown off by a faux-Batman, then dives into Talia's ploy to get Batman to finish raising her son, who will turn out to be a future Batman himself in the last chapter. There's some properly "Silver Age reimagined" stuff like an army of Man-Bats and an effective sequence in an art gallery full of Lichtensteins that compete for the panel space, and in the middle is a luscious text story about the Joker recreating his personality that's long, but rewarding. Not the best Morrison I've read, but given the sheer quantity of that particular subset of my collection, that's hardly surprising.
Otherwise, well, made 16 new cards for the Unauthorized Doctor Who CCG, this time mostly based on the episode Gridlock. It's a visually rich story that nevertheless doesn't give up as many useful concepts for the game as I'd like.
Oh yeah, and I made some stupid valentines for all the girls at work, each telling them they were my "fav'rit" and not to tell the others (which they all immediately did). I only mention it here because the pics were from old romance comics and Little Lulus.
Someone Else's Post of the Week
Chris Sims' Invincible Super-Blog was bound to get a nod here sometime, and I've chosen his valentines to be the sickest ones out there this week. Especially that last one. Bad Chris, bad!
