10 weeks to Ambush Bug!
Let's take this moment to remember how ol' Irwin might have died back in late '87 during the Invasion crossover. You didn't know he was involved? Oh, he was. Look here:
And that's a TODD MACFARLANE AMBUSH BUG! Look at that craftsmanship. So he's with some pretty big guns there, including Blue Beetle and Aquaman. And Batman. But he's not really with them.
He's with the Suicide Squad.
That's right. That's him there with Captain Boomerang, Lashina/Duchess, Nemesis, Black Orchid and some people set to die, possibly. All of a sudden, Buggy is that much cooler for having been part of that team at that time in its history. But is also puts him in grave danger.
And when the Gene Bomb hits... HE'S AMONG THE DYING! Here he is hidden somewhere on that page full of beds:
So he had the meta-gene all along. How did it affect his powers? Or did he draw the black queen? If he did, then who's that at the Invasion after-party?
Maybe an impostor, maybe Irwin. And maybe he was just tired and stole a bad in the meta-hospital that one time.
Anyway, I'd love to see a flashback to Invasion where Amanda Waller has to deal with Ambush Bug. Am I alone in this?
