A few days ago, when I reviewed the Enterprise episode Dear Doctor, we all wondered if the Menk were indeed genetically destined to become their world's dominant species or if the Valakians would find a way out of their genetic dead end.

Well, there you go. The planet is eventually overrun with Menk, but the Valakians still hold on as a small, but noticeable minority. More than that, the rechristened Menk planet became a Federation member in 2236, some 30 years before the TOS era.

The TNG episode Attached tells us the Kesprytt III situation is unprecedented, so in this case the Menk and Valakians must have BOTH joined the UFP. It's nice to see they get along...
