Spaceknight Saturdays: Total War

Check out the first of a number of Bill Sienkiewicz covers on Rom Spaceknight. I love it when Marvel gives our Galadorian friend the star treatment.

Last issue, Rom and Starshine went public with their existence and the Dire Wraith threat, forcing the Wraiths to escalate the conflict.

You want war, Rom? You've GOT war.

Total war.

TOTAL WAR.

TOTAL WAR!
That's an ordinary American town laid waste by a battle between the Wraiths and the US Army. The Spaceknights chip in, but the damage is D-O-N-E, done. Rom warns that this will happen all across the world, and it could all have been prevented if the citizenry had been warned and armed. Even the army takes pause.
It's a survivalist's dream come true!
Invited to a secret military base, Rom and Starshine help the army find the Wraiths across Marvel's Nova Scotia-less North America. And guess what, they're everywhere.
Yes, even Cuba! British Columbia looks pretty safe though.

But no need to look that far...
There is no base so secret, no military so complex, that the Dire Wraiths can't infiltrate it. And that's why it's total war. And in total war...
Rom sets his Neutralizer to "rip your face off". None of that "banish to Limbo so you can have dancing contests for all eternity" crap. NONE OF THAT.
Rom leads by example, so of course the soldiers jump the Wraithwitches. It doesn't matter if they were having SpaghettiO's with them at the mess just an hour before.
Also hardcore: Starshine.
But you knew that. Man... can Rom ever settle down with Starshine after this?
Not unless he's a light sleeper!

Next Saturday: More total war! But come by on Friday for a special Rom appearance. It's about time he met the Hulk!

That cover is superb.

You didn't need Starshine's light to tell which ones were Wraiths... you just had to kill all the scowling ones!
Bill Sinkevitz was a great cover artist. truly ahead of his time.
