REVIEW: Though the prior series did have ongoing subplots, volume 2 is truly heading into serial comics territory, juggling a number of balls in the air at the same time. Consequently, it's a little difficult to comment on the unfinished plots except to say they range from fine to promising. I do like that Peter David has decided to take Klaa up on his promise to meet Kirk again from the film. Where the comic continues to shine is in the comic interplay between the characters. The Kirk-McCoy dialogue is particularly sparkling, and Spock gets off a few worthy zingers as well. Fry's art continues to be dynamic even if he has problems with perspective and his aliens continue to be imaginative (though perhaps too much, as they jar with the known Star Trek universe).

One of Fry's aliens appears to be Jor-El.
