Source: Superman arcade game from Taito Corporation (1988)
Type: Video gameI remember playing this! Two versions of Superman could team up to stop the evil Emperor Zaas from invading the Earth with his drones. The Supermen could fly, punch, kick, use heat vision, as well as throw punch blasts à la Mortal Kombat. Sure, the generic enemies and some of the game play mean this could have been a game about ANYONE, but you do have the music of the Superman films to accompany your battles through Metropolis, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Washington D.C. and Zaas' spaceship. The Red Superman probably has nothing to do with the classic Silver Age story line, or Captain Marvel, or Mon-El, but it's fun pretending there's an in-continuity explanation for Player 2.
There are some unused sprites that show how Player 2 might also have looked
The brown-haired Superman might have caused confusion, but who's the Supergirl/wrestler chick?
And to finish things off, here's the end of the "never-ending battle", sadly sans Superman Red. Skip around to see the whole of game play.
Anyone else remember this game fondly (or not)?

Unsurprisingly, the Superman Museum in Metropolis, Illinois had one of these.
How have they forgotten the 356th rule of acquisition?
You don't tug on Superman's cape!
