Source: Project: Rooftop (2008)
Type: Fan-made
Every five weeks or so, Reign presents a fan re-design because you know what? There are some great, imaginative ones out there, and I like them all better than the New52 version. Trippe's design also does away with the shorts, and the floating belt buckle takes the New52's useless belt idea to its extreme, but there's something simple and hopeful about it. White is a Superman Family color thanks to Animated Supergirl's colors, and it brands Superman as an angelic, messianic figure. Of course, it looks like Irredeemable's Plutonian since went to the same tailor, so I'm not sure how viable the design would be today. Ultimately, it's Trippe's simple lines and cartoony style that make this youthful Superman attractive.
If I were editor at DC Comics, I'd be contacting many of the artists who participated in this Project: Rooftop contest to see if they could do an digi-issue of Adventures of Superman (the series is out of continuity anyway) using their idea. It would certainly satisfy my hunger for good Elseworlds material.
