Reign of the Supermen #472: Charles R. Rouse-Rodriguez's Superman

Source: Project: Rooftop (2008) (Entry on CRRR's own blog)
Type: Fan-made
What if Kryptonians DIDN'T have super-powers under a yellow sun? What if what Kal-El brought with him from his doomed planet was just solar-powered technology? Technology that allowed him to nevertheless become SUPERMAN? That's what CRRR's design evokes, tapping more into Flash Gordon's pulp roots than Doc Savage's. I bet that collar can connect to a bubble helmet for use in outer space. Kryptonite wouldn't work on this guy, but you could definitely prevent him from flying off by keeping his hands occupied. The slight hint of Kirby tech on the jetpack makes me happy too.

According to Charles' own blog, his Superman DOES have powers, but they seem to be closer to Captain Comet's, including the ability to move objects with his mind. He can also buff himself up from puny Clark Kent to muscular Superman, confounding Lois Lane, I'm sure. I've said it before, I'd love to see an Elseworlds project that used some of these Project Rooftop redesigns.
