Reign of the Supermen #496: A-Zero

Source: Superman vol.3 #23.1 (2013)
Type: Bizarro
So the Villains Month about Bizarro has a Bizarro in it, but not the New52 Bizarro. Lex Luthor tries to graft Kryptonian DNA on a person to make a super-soldier, expecting this:
But really only getting this:
See, the human part of the hybrid just can't take the solar energy without rampaging and exploding. And human subjects have the annoying tendency of wearing Superman t-shirts that get on Luthor's nerves. So yeah, gotta make Bizarro a more slowly-grown pure Kryptonian clone. And I guess he just wasn't ready to make an appearance in his own special, except on the cover and here:
B-0, B-Zero, Bizarro, yeah, real clever. Just about the only clever thing here, though Lex isn't badly written or anything. But geez, where's the truth in advertizing?

Could be worse... look at the Lobo cover. :)

I'd rather not, if it's all the same to you.

Haven't read it, and maybe I just want to like Superman stuff despite DC doing everything they can so I won't, but it seems appropriate that the first Bizarro doesn't survive his first appearance.

The same happened in Byrne's Man of Steel.

Here's how cool I am: the first thing I thought of when I saw Luthor's dream Supermen was Maximum from the Supermen of America.

My earlier comment being that the old Lobo design is on the cover of the one-shot... which was pretty amazingly just like every other Lobo story I've ever seen other than the redesign serving no practical purpose. Sigh.

The Deadshot New origin, on the other hand, is actually pretty great. It's not Ostrander, but then, what is?

Then the Lobo story is even worse than I thought.

Deadshot is one of the few I plan to read.

I'm pretty much limited to mail-order here in the vast southern wilderness, so I ended up with the ones tied into my usual pull list. I liked Relic better when Marvel called him Galactus. :) I actually liked Darkseid's New 52 origin better than the old one, and Killer Frost and Mongul were exactly what I expected. Deadshot was MUCH better than I expected. Really looking forward to the Shadow-Thief... I kind of like her, although Sands is still superior.

When I first saw the Luthor-Man I thought the L was for Legion of Superheroes!

From dusty crystaline Bizarro to paste-pot awful Bizarro. That resumes the New DC for me...
