Superior-Man! He came out of nowhere not to help Superman in the never-ending battle, but to replace him! He beat the Parasite, Titano, and more!
He made Metropolis a virtually crime-free zone, while Superman was left rescuing cats from trees. He paired up with Lex Luthor to bring might AND technology to bear in creating a new golden age for Metropolis. Lex Luthor? Uh-oh. That explains why Superior-Man turns on the Man of Steel with his kryptonite vision and tries to destroy him when Supes refuses to leave town. Well, two can play the power-vision game, and the application of a little heat vision reveals...
Metallo! Superman, friendly advice, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use your x-ray vision on someone you're not sure you should trust. Metallo's been brainwashed by Luthor into thinking he's really Superior-Man so he goes crazy and tries to make Luthor eat a scrunched-up helicopter (no joke; where's Tenzil Kem when you need him?). I guess Superman's going to have to save the man who put 8 billion dollars into trying to kill him over the last four quarters.
Classic. Just like a lot of these stories set in the Bruce Timm animated DC Universe are. We even get some insight into why Lex Luthor hates Superman so much. If only Mark Millar's other work (yes, Mark Millar wrote a long run on this series, MARK MILLAR!) was anything like this...
