"You know, I think that was the most bizarre five minutes of my entire life."
TECHNICAL SPECS: This mini-episode is available as an Easter Egg on the Season DVD set; you only need to answer five easy questions to unlock it. It's also on You-Tube. First aired Mar.13 2009 as part of the 2009 Comic Relief appeal.
IN THIS ONE... A Slitheen with a Ronnie Corbett suit shows up in Sarah Jane's Attic.
REVIEW: A short sketch that aside the last shot with K9 sporting Comic Relief's trademark red nose, plays as canonical. It's silly, sure. It's even funny, nice one-liners and all that. But the New Whoniverse has done things that are at least as loony in regular episodes. Space golf, a boot to immobilize K9, don't tell me that stuff is outside the realm of the things RTD made possible. Now, as a North American, I'm aware that I don't really get all the references to Brit pop culture, but I'm enough of a Britophile to at least get the Two Ronnies/Two Ranis joke, but not its scope. Of course, it's a comedy sketch with an inexplicably diminutive Slitheen, so there are lots of fart jokes, but they're on the whole better than those in past Slitheen stories. If you can rate that kind of thing. The episode does make an interesting point about K9 - the target of the Slitheen's criminal intentions - a Time Lord-enhanced mobile computer/weapon filled with information about the future WOULD be a valuable piece of kit. It's surprising no one ever did that story.
REWATCHABILITY: Medium - An amusing piece of fluff that could well make you smile.
