Doctor Who #901: Pond Life

"I feel so guilty." "Just eat your breakfast."
TECHNICAL SPECS: Webisodes first released Aug.27-31 2012.

IN THIS ONE... Five short skits showing the Doctor's shenanigans impacting Amy and Rory's domestic life.

REVIEW: More or less titled April through August, and teasing the start of Series 7 in September, all but the last are straight-up comic interludes. Either the Doctor is talking about (or seen) on his insane adventures alone (meeting Mata Hari, recording an album, surfing away from Sontarans, inventing pasta), or Amy and Rory are rolling their eyes at his antics (popping up in their bedroom at the wrong time - literally - or forgetting an Ood in their bathroom). An elaborate Yeti in the loo joke, the whole Ood thing is amusing (he becomes their butler), but one wishes they'd waited until Yeti were actually reintroduced on the show. And did the pop-in actually occur during The Power of Three? I suppose that's likely.

The last episode has a more dramatic tenor, setting up some marital strife in time for the series opener. It's all a big mystery here, but we do see an angry Rory leaving a despondent Amy behind. It's a tiny personal cliffhanger that keeps these two in the game even though, I really do think they've said their goodbyes. Ah well. I'd probably have watched a spin-off sitcom based on Pond Life, but that ship has sailed, eh?

REWATCHABILITY: Medium
- A humorous 6 minutes, with rapid-fire ideas, but little meat.

Oh, I don't know...a 21st century British couple stranded in early 20th century New York? That could be a nice little spin-off sitcom.

Wow - I never connected "Ood in the loo" with "Yeti in your loo in Tooting Bec". Good catch!
