Post-Infantino Flash... Off-Model?

When Carmine Infantino was finally succeeded on The Flash by Ross Andru and Mike Esposito, the results weren't exactly conclusive. The Scarlet Speedster was too bulky for many fans, and Andru himself conceded that he "was trying to incorporate the Marvel superhero look into the wrong character. He shouldn't have been that beefy... that muscular. [...] I look back on some of that stuff and I cringe." Was it really that bad? Let's take a look at a random early issue...

I don't know what it is, but Flashes just don't have the...exceptional hindquarters boasted by any average Green Lantern.
