Episode 1 of the Lonely Hearts Romance Comics Podcast - I Was a Pick-Up!

If everybody jumped off a bridge, would I jump too? Apparently so! Listening to a lot of fun comic book podcasts made me get into the game! I got my friends Bass, Furn and Marty near some microphones and we started talking about comic book romances and classic romance comics. Hey, comics fans have mostly ignored this entire genre of comics! No longer!

In the first episode, we introduce ourselves, talk about our favorite comic book romances, and dissect the first story of the very first romance comic, Young Romance #1's "I Was a Pick-Up!" (1947) by Simon & Kirby! Also featuring Romance Comics Theatre!

I adore Romance Comics. They are so magnificently, wonderfully terrible.

And crying. Lots and lots of crying.

I hope you'll tell us how we're doing with the topic!

Don't know much about romance comics, but I'll give this a listen, if only in hopes of an explanation for the Raiders panel.

Furn. Furn is the explanation.

Loved the first show, and the strip is great. Look at Toni's eyebrows, she's obviously from Apokolips (and Granny is a guy). Top story, really nicely narrated with feelings that feel real for the time.

How about you take a look at Superman's Other Loves - Lori Lemaris, Sally Selwyn, Lyla Lerrol...

I Was a Fourth World Pick-Up!

The second episode, already in the can, IS Superman-related, but far too little Lori Lemaris in it for my tastes, as you'll hear!

I cannot wait!
