Arrowed: Damage Control

The feature inspired by great cosplay and fan art (but in this case, neither) where I imagine various Marvel properties taken to the small screen and wonder aloud just what their shows would be like. Today's pitch: Damage Control.
Cosplay/fan art: Sadly none!

It's a workplace comedy/drama set in the shadow of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the cool thing is, Marvel's reconstruction company has been name-dropped in the first Iron Man film already! That's in addition to its appearances in Marvel animation and video games. And face it, it's a lot easier to base a television show on a group of normal humans than it is effects-driven superheroes. I'd almost say it's too LATE for a Damage Control series given all the destruction we've seen in the various Marvel movies. This year's season could have opened with Damage Control simultaneously in Eastern Europe and South Africa leading rebuilding and search & rescue efforts, all paid for by Stark.

After all, in the comics, Stark originally co-owned Damage Control with Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin himself, who is also part of the Cinematic Universe via Netflix Daredevil! That certainly allows for interesting cameos, as well as stories about corporate corruption. Did Fisk cause destruction on a large scale just so his shares in Damage Control (and wouldn't it be cheeky to have a TV property that abbreviates to DC?) would skyrocket? The comics had a lot of stuff like this in addition to weird problems only a superhero universe would spawn. It was a little insulting when Agents of SHIELD went out of its way to stay in the very margins, but with Damage Control, that actually works. Just reference superheroes and never see them; Damage Control is always the last at the scene.

The comics bring other stories to mind, like the time Hercules had to do community service with D.C. (maybe a job for Luke Cage, this time around?), but overall, I'd be happy if it featured a lot of conversations with an "Everyman"'s view of the Marvel U. Interactions between the company and superhumans were always slightly absurd in the comics; there's a lot of joy to be had there. And the Flatiron building as a base? That's boss, and instantly iconic. Break out the establishing shots!

What do you think? Is Damage Control something you'd like to see on screen?

I did adore the books... and it is a concept that could actually translate quite well to television. So yes...I would love to see this. With plentiful guest stars of course.

Ask and ye can potentially receive. ABC just bought a script for a Damage Control TV series:

Awesome. There was discussion of a one-off film at one point as well, but I think it would work much better on television.
