Dating Kara Zor-El: None of Her Cousin's Biases

Superman would never kiss Lex Luthor, would he? (Well, depends who you ask.) But Supergirl? Totally:
Okay look, it's when Lex was in a younger, more brawny, more hairy clone body acting like he was his own illegitimate son. And okay, it's not actually Kara, but Matrix, the artificial Lana Lang created by a heroic Lex Luthor from Superboy's Pocket Dimension. Fine. You got me. Just wanted to get this dating series out of the Silver Age. Sheesh.

On the one hand, I like Peter David and what he did with Matrix. On the other hand, if you've decided that you want to only have Superman and no Super-family (which is a valid argument to have) then I'm not sure I want you to jump through hoops to have kinda sorta versions of Supergirl and Superboy.

Wasn't Luthor also pretending to be Australian at this point? Do Aussies say "love"? That sounds more like a cockney thing.

The thing is, at some point you have to do something with the names or the trademarks go away. It's why there have been so many Captains Marvel over at Marvel, not one of which would have been necessary if someone back in the day had told Starlin, "You know, I'm not sure that whole Mar-Vell cancer thing is such a good idea."
