Snapshots of Jimmy Olsen #49: Ame-Comi Jimmy

Source: 1st appearance in Ame-Comi IV: Power Girl #1 (2013)
Type: Alternate Earth
The Ame-Comi digital comics were way better than stories based on a line of sexy statues or whatever had any right to be. Maybe I'm just an inveterate Power Girl fan, maybe that's it. Because Power Girl is that universe's equivalent of Superman, Kara Jor-El, daughter of Jor-El, cousin of Supergirl, and primary protector of Metropolis. She's not a total analog, of course. She has no secret identity, for example, and runs her corporation AS a super-powered corporate mogul. The corp uses Kryptonian technology for the betterment of mankind, after all. No awkward questions.

But as part of her Supermanization, she does get a Daily Planet love interest: James "Jimmy" Olsen. He's a hunky reporter with cool hair who can handle himself, but still uses the signal watch when he wants to see his lady. That's the ticket. It's not that he NEEDED the help.
Power Girl lets him have his dignity and the occasional adventure.

If this sounds familiar, well, it's not unlike the current Supergirl show's set-up! Maybe the romance hasn't gotten there yet, and maybe it never will, but it's the same kind of hunky Jimmy. But I'm going to hold my tongue, as the show's Jimmy will show up on this space in a couple of weeks. Try to hold on 'til then!
