1993's Ten Best Covers

We're getting deeper into the 90s now. 1993 is brought to you by the letter X, and the words Death, Dark and Blood. Holy crap! But perhaps we can help redeem the decade's reputation with another round of actually good covers from that year. And it's a year that includes Fantastic Four #375, a HORRENDOUS cover (with Invisible Woman's infamous boob window) that nevertheless made Ranker's Top 99. Seeing it on there is the secret origin of this series of posts. I knew then and there I had to set the record straight. Play along thanks to Mike's Amazing World of Comics (link will take you to the start publication month, not the cover dated one).
Daredevil #319 by Scott McDaniel
Batman/Grendel #1 by Matt Wagner
The Spectre #5 by Charles Vess
Cerebus #166 by Dave Sim
Spawn #10 by Todd MacFarlane and Dave Sim
The Maxx #2 by Sam Keith
Superman #77 by Dan Jurgens and Brett Breeding
Superman: The Man of Steel #21 by Jon Bogdanove and Dennis Janke
Gregory III by Marc Hempel
Comics' Greatest World: X #1 by Frank Miller

But perhaps you have different ideas?

No Marvel again, probably well deserved. A few years ago I resorted my whole collection. The process showed me that the 90s were a low point for Marvel, maybe creatively but certainly in terms of production values and visuals. Including logos, cover text, trade dress, etc.

The Batman/Grendel cover is striking, but I'd have probably put War Child #8 or #10 if they were competing for the same 'slot'. Probably would have also made room for one of the two Marvels covers from the year.

Yeah, that Daredevil cover is just mind bogglingly beautiful.

Memorable story and cover, but looking at it now, it feels very 90s EXTREEEEEEME and the background is horrid.
