Krypto #30: April Fool's Power Loss

From: Superman #145 and Action Comics #276 (May 1961)

In the Superman story that was more than imaginary, but a solid trolling of the readership, everything is wrong in "The Night of March 31st!". Among them, our own Krypto, who shows up at the Daily Planet offices and acts like Jimmy Olsen is his master.
Well, he HAS been, but let's let that go. And Streaky now belongs to Lois! This is prelude to the first panel shown where super-dog and cat get into a bit of a chase around the office. But then...
Oh no! His powers have faded! I hope he's not badly hurt, just unused to pain. Because like his powers, he fades from the story (well, it's true he ISN'T Superman's dog).

Meanwhile, in the Supergirl story that introduces her to the Legion of Super-Heroes...
More fakery! Krypto is led to believe the glowing rock she's holding is harmless, but no, it's real. She's wearing Brainiac 5's forcefield belt, see? And she almost killed Krypto, doesn't she realize? If he lost his powers in the wastes of space, there's very little she could have done to save him! Close one!

That's one I've never read, famous as it is - I probably have it in a Showcase collection. I do like that Streaky is saying Arf. Thank God Jon Kent isn't nearby...
