Is that a whip in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me? This episode kinda turned into a critique on boots. Not much love for Black King...considering their feelings about him and about Angel, I guess the girls aren't too impressed by money.
I won't get too spoilery, but there's definitely a discrepancy between men's and women's outfits in the Hellfire Club; Black Queen's coming up, so they'll see for themselves. Speaking of people who look like they should be carrying whips, the Blacklash comments were funny. As for what he carries in his man-purse, my guess is a blow-dryer and some product for that sweet ponytail.
As for the height/weight stuff, that's always been a problem; I think they just assume that attractive women are all under 120 lbs. And people with the same stats can have different body types; I'm about the same size as Black Knight (6'1", 185) but I'm not exactly what you'd call "muscular".

When Chris Claremont and John Byrne introduced the Hellfire Club, the central members were all modeled after well-known actors: The Black King was based on Robert Shaw (with his name being a combination of Robert Shaw and a different actor, Sebastian Shaw), White Queen Emma Frost was based on Faye Dunaway (and named after Diana Rigg's Emma Peel character), White Bishop Donald Pierce was based on Donald Sutherland (and named after Sutherland's Hawkeye Pierce), and Black Bishop Harry Leland was based on Orson Welles (and named after Welles' character Harry Lime from "The Third Man"). Of course, the resemblance to their celebrity sources varied with different artists' interpretations...today's Emma Frost could never be mistaken for Faye Dunaway!

Looks like I have to correct myself: I just googled "Emma Frost Faye Dunaway" and found an old discussion on John Byrne's forum where he flatly states that Emma Frost was NOT based on Faye Dunaway.

I understand the focus on the whip, but I'm surprised that with the mention of the boots, no one brought up the biggest issue with Blacklash's costume. What happens when it rains?

I also came down with a case of the giggles when you discussed Blacklash's whip stiffening into a pole. Good to know I share a similarly ribald sense of humor with the panelists.
