One Panel #154-156: What Are You Waiting For?!

From The Sandman: "The Sandman Meets With Murder" by Gardner Fox and Ogden Whitney, Adventure Comics #46 (January 1940)

Despite the superhero revolution going on at National/All-American and at other companies, some of their books were really slow to latch on to the craze. Adventure Comics STILL has only Sandman, which at least headlines and gets the cover, but the book has yet to spawn a second costumed hero. And I'm not saying the Sandman strip is like watching paint dry, but... well... I didn't write or draw that panel!

From  "Daisybelle" by Gene Byrnes, All-American Comics #11 (February 1940)

All-American doesn't even have a costumed hero, and though Hop Harrigan was star enough to get his own movie serial, and the Gary Concord Ultra Man cover is pretty cool, none of these strips are money makers today. All-American is instead convinced humor strips are still big with the kids. (I'm sure they were enjoyed, I'm just being facetious.)

From King Carter: "Volcanic Island" by Paul Lauretta, More Fun Comics #51 (January 1940)

And More Fun Comics should be retitled Less Fun for STILL exclusively running adventure strips and seeming satisfied with itself. But that, at least, is about to change in #52... (Comics historians? Bueller?)

Not to raise a Spectre or anything...The title of this post had me thinking Rorschach...The resultant post of course has nothing to do with him...
