Last night, my good friend from across the way, Sir Tim Knight from HeroPress, reminded me that Blade Runner's Leon was born (or incepted) on this day. He was the youngest despite outward appearances, and if we are living in the timeline that produced Blade Runner, then all four (five?) renegade replicants are among us.
It's true that the film takes place in 2019, and that gives us only two years to get to flying cars, black market gene tech, and off-world colonies. But we've already got climate change that might justify a rainy Los Angeles, corporations more powerful than the government, the decline of American culture in favor of an Asian paradigm, and a bleak outlook on life. We're halfway there! Who's to say replicants aren't being made RIGHT NOW and sent off world SECRETLY? We ARE living in the DARKEST TIMELINE, after all!
Oh, right. We've long diverged from the Blade Runner timeline. Phew! Carry on.
And do Leon a favor, don't ask him about his mother.
