One Panel #186-187: Invincible Fawcett

From Ibis the Invincible: "The Rescue of Boyville" by Bill Parker, C.C. Beck and Pete Costanza, Whiz Comics #4 (May 1940)

Captain Marvel wasn't the only star featured in Whiz Comics; there was also Ibis the Invicible, a turbaned magician type who did fairly well for himself. He would land his own series in 1943 (though it only ran for 6 issues) and would make DC Universe appearances as a denizen of Earth-S. I do find it suspect that he appears in Whiz along with Fawcett's then-controversial Superman analog, seeing as Action Comics OTHER well-remembered star was the magician Zatara. But there's definitely something to a superhero who can turn criminals into stinky animals.

As for the Captain Marvel story in this issue, I thought it required a longer piece. Come back Monday for it.

From Master Man: "The World's Greatest Scourge: War" by Newt Alfred, Master Comics #2 (April 1940)

The grumble-inducing hero known as Master Man shows us how simple it is to stop a war. Why did no one think of this solution sooner?
