One Panel #210-211: More Mystical Fun

Two issues of More Fun Comics were on the stands in May of 1940 (but technically none in June), so that gives us a chance to contrast its two stars, Dr. Fate and the Spectre in the same post.
From Dr. Fate:  "The Search for Wotan" by Gardner Fox and Howard Sherman, More Fun Comics #56 (June 1940)

First up, as mentioned in the comments section of the One Panel that introduced Dr. Fate to the world (in More Fun #55), the magician went from fatally throwing Wotan off a building to securing passage to Hell for himself and Inza, just so he could punch the guy in his green face once more. Now that's badass. Just ask Charon.

The issue also features the debut of Congo Bill, but that seem less important somehow.

From The Spectre: "The Return of Zor" by Jerry Siegel and Bernard Baily, More Fun Comics #57 (July 1940)

In the next issue, the Spectre has one of those crazy, bigger-than-life fights he's known for. We're a long way from his using the Earth as a club in the 60s, but an exchange of comets? It'll do. It'll do.

More Fun than most comics indeed!
