As for the "red cape and mostly yellow body", I found three characters with red capes: Black Knight I (who has some yellow detailing on his costume); Nova-Prime in the Champions of Xandar; and Count Nefaria. I'm going to guess it was Nefaria, since they didn't mention multiple characters, and Black Knight's costume doesn't have that much yellow on it.
