From Doll Man: "The Puritan Village" by John Celardo (as William Erwin Maxwell), Feature Comics #39 (December 1940)
Finishing up what comics were on the stands in October 1940 with an action splash that, truth be told, looks dangerous for Doll Man. I dunno. You tell me.
From Bulletman: "The Alliance of Boss Garlow" by Jon Smalle, Master Comics #8 (November 1940)
At least Bulletman has some head protection. And he's never being shot out of a gun despite his name.
From Blaze Barton: "Mercury vs. Venus" by Maurice Gutwirth (as Roy Talon), Hit Comics #6 (December 1940)
Flying from planet to planet is pretty impressive. Having to distort your posture so you fit in a weird panel? That's VERY impressive.
From "Magno meets Mary Wallace" by Paul Gustavson, Smash Comics #17 (December 1940)
Speaking of trying to fit in a panel. Month in, month out, Magno had to prance like an idiot just so he could fit in his own splash panel. No wonder he didn't really make it to the present day. (Not even the Reboot Legion's Magno can claim ancestry here.)
