In mid-1998, Superman's various books split into several timelines/realities created by the entity known as Kismet. The Adventures of Superman re-imagined the post-Crisis "triangle era" Superman Family with a Silver Age spin in which Superman, one of his robots, Supergirl, Steel, Superboy and a decidedly Kryptonian Krypto played catch with Sputnik!
And then Jimmy Olsen suffers from a weird transformation or other, and the Pooch of Steel is forgotten. Aw. He could have done SO MUCH MORE!
