One Panel #307-308: Whiz Wow Sports!

From Captain Marvel: "Sivana's Fountain of Youth" by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck, Whiz Comics #13 (February 1941)

Captain Marvel playing hockey?! It happened! Cap had to join the team when a star player was dosed with a youth potion that turned him into a toddler! The Big Red Cheese would go on to win the championship for the Home Team.

After the loss of that one player, the score got pretty crazy. 16-3 for the Visitors after two periods. It's almost like the creative team had never seen a hockey game. Cap then scores 10 goals in a row, and then 4 more. 17-16 for the Home Team. I just wonder how the Visitors did so well in the second period without super-powered help.

From Atom Blake the Boy Wizard: "The Mad Scientist" by Pierce Rice, Wow Comics #1 (December 1940)

This month, Fawcett trots out a new title: Wow Comics! It will eventually be the home of Mary Marvel, but that's a long way off. The stars of its inaugural issue are Mister Scarlett (who was referenced in an Earth-S JLA story), and Atom Blake, whose stint on the book would only last 5 issues. This super-powered (but not costumed, that may be the problem) boy uses an all-elements ring created by his father to gather sunergy and use it to power his feats of strength, energy blasts, and travels through time and space. Naturally, in his first post-origin adventure, he uses it for baseball and athletics.
