From Paul Kirk, Manhunter: "Manhunt on the Sun Limited" by Ed Moore, Adventure Comics #58 (January 1941)
Adventure Comics #58 premieres one of the most enduring B-list brands of the DC Universe - Manhunter. In time, it's a name that would be held by 10 other characters (big and small, albeit one published by Quality in this era), not to mention an evil robot race. Paul Kirk is the original, but the original may not be the Paul Kirk you know. He's not a superhero, just an independent investigator, and he was never called "Manhunter" except in his strip's title. His stories appeared for 16 issues of Adventure until he was replaced by what appears to be a different Paul Kirk who IS a superhero called Manhunter.
That delay getting into a costume means the Quality Manhunter actually made it to the stands before the superhero Paul Kirk by just a couple weeks!
Be that as it may, the Manhunter brand has had a long (and possibly checkered) history, and One Panel will return to it again.
