One Panel #343-345: Sound Effect Comics

From Red Bee: "Shanghai Joe" by Toni Blum and Witmer Williams, Hit Comics #10 (April 1941)

No sound, but you can imagine it. I mean, that guy's face EXPLODES!

From Black Condor: "Jasper Crow and the Miners" by Kenneth Lewis and Lou Fine, Crack Comics #12 (April 1941)

Here's some unusual action from the Black Condor strip. Unless you remember he's a member of Congress. Well, nothing's changed, with a loud sound effect of NO! Congress voted down a bill to better people's lives. Maybe I shouldn't have used the word "action".

From The Purple Trio: "The Kidnap Ring" by Alex Blum, Smash Comics #21 (April 1941)

Finally! A real onomatopoeia! CONK! Furious toddler action (yes, I can use the word action, though maybe not toddler, he's an undercover little person) in the Quality Comics manner!

This is one of the things Chris Sims always liked about Jim Aparo.
