One Panel #353: The First Appearance of Sargon the Sorcerer

From Sargon the Sorcerer: "The Ruby of Life" by John B. Wentworth and Howard Purcell, All-American Comics #26 (May 1941)

He was never as popular as All-American's other superhero headliners who were all Justice Society members - Green Lantern, Dr. Mid-Nite, Atom - but Sargon nonetheless held his spot until issue 50, and then jumped ship to Comic Cavalcade and then Sensation Comics, appearing regularly until late 1948. That's pretty good for late-comer to the super-powered magician game, especially since his shtick isn't all that different from the older Zatara's.

The main difference, aside from the swami act, is that his powers were derived from the Ruby of Life, which the opening caption of his first strip likens to the Blarney Stone! Well, I think we have a hot date with a rock, don't we, guys?
