The Dirtiest Cover Under the Comics Code Authority?

By 1991, the Comics Code was already a joke. The censorship of the '50s and '60s had become quaint and antiquated, direct sales venues - which didn't feel the need to curate their merchandise like newsstands and grocery stores - were becoming the norm, and it seemed like the Comics Code Authority logo (which had shrunk smaller and smaller over the years) was just a sticker some bureaucrat sold to publishers, possibly with the tacit agreement that trusted partners would never go too far and police themselves.

But Alf #48, arguably targeting younger readers, really goes overboard. If you're a Comics Code censor and you can't see what's happening here, you're probably not right for the job. It's even worse for a French speaker, because our word for seal is phoque. Yes, f**k.

File under Comics Code Authority FAIL!

I guess ALF was just looking for the tightest seal he could find ... yeah, I said it :)
