Siskoid, I bet you were dying to answer all those questions yourself :) Some more great stuff this time around. Nice to see Hobgoblin get some love; I always thought he was cooler than the Green Goblin. Of course, that was before all the crap with Jack O'Lantern and Demogoblin. You didn't get into the whole thing about Hobby's true identity, but I wonder if the fact he turned out to be a fashion designer makes him more or less hot? On the one hand, access to cool new clothes, but on the other, constantly being judged for your fashion choices ...

I never really got into Howard the Duck; just not my kind of humour, I guess. I seem to remember they got in trouble for showing Howard and Beverly in bed together (not doing anything, but the implications were obvious). Lea Thompson played Beverly in the movie, but she really doesn't look like the comics version to me.

The Hulk discussion was illuminating too. I think Peter David later established that Hulk's fragmented personality came from his father abusing him as a kid. The girls seem to like the sweet innocent Hulk; makes me think of that story where Hulk befriends the deer in the woods and when it gets killed he goes nuts, screaming about "Bambi's mom"; I can't remember if that was in Defenders or Incredible Hulk, but it was pretty sad.

Mike W.

Actually, Peter David always is sure to credit Bill Mantlo as the author who first established Banner's father as an abuser. But, PAD (as he's usually referred to online) did go a lot deeper with that.

And I agree with Mike W. on liking Hobgoblin better than Green Goblin (except for J.M. DeMatteis' work with Harry as Green Goblin III). When I started collecting comics, the symbiote storyline was being reprinted in Marvel Tales, and the Hobgoblin was introduced right around the same time, so he was one of the first villains I got to know in the comics.
