"Eat shlit and die, you crock-sucking frack bag!"
SO SAY WE ALL: It's April 1st, here's a parody from Titled Sketch Project. Directed by Jordan Peele.
REVIEW: Everyone involved did their homework, and I'm especially surprised at how close many of the voices are. Dan Oster is especially good as doing Tigh's Canadian accent and downward-turned mouth. I'm also gratified that they've recorded(?) a cod version of Bear McCreary's opening music, and given us a bit of the staccato previews for the "episode". The backgrounds are right out of the show too, via bad blue screen, and a toy Centurion has a small but amusing role. In terms of production value, the make-up is strictly sketch comedy (but then, that's what this is), and that's really the weakest part.
There are two jokes here. One is that despite all the similarities between the Colonials and us, the 13th Tribe, our curse words are singularly different (yet similar sounding). Having Starbuck and Tigh have one of their classic fights and lacing it with invented swears is pretty funny (as is the tattoo gag), and for me the high point was the word "asspole". After that, I'm less interested. The other joke is that various people turn out to be secret Cylons, so everyone must be a Cylon. The joke actually highlights one of the show's themes (the "other" is us, and we are the "other"), but while amusing (Baltar's entrance), I wouldn't call this part of the sketch particularly laugh-worthy. Asspole though.
CAPRICANADA: Oster's Canadian accent is on point, eh?
ALL THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AND IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN: And how!
HUMAN DEATH TOLL: No, we're fine. But possibly, everyone not in the scene is dead. Or a Cylon.
REWATCHABILITY: Medium - A trifle, obviously, but it's funny at least to the halfway point, and there's evident love for the show.
