From Black Condor: "The President Has Been Kidnapped" by Lou Fine, Crack Comics #19 (December 1941)
Newspaper headlines that catch us up with action we don't really need to see, as transitions, etc. are quite common in the Golden Age. Indeed, it was also a device in movies, which had you believing even domestic developments might make it to the gossip columns so long as they were important to the plot. But I just can't resit Lou Fine's "hot of the press" version of that old trope. Get'em while they're hot! Black Condor rescued FDR and other historical events!
