One Panel #554-556: Dripping Fawcett

From Bulletman: "The Weeper" by Mac Raboy, Master Comics #23 (February 1942)

Bulletman and Bulletgirl are really, really good at sky writing, but I do like the sentiment. Why them rather than Captain Marvel as the top feature this week? Well... let's just say the Big Red Cheese's strip was... problematic.

From Captain Marvel: "The Redskin Riddle" by C.C. Beck, Whiz Comics #27 (February 1942)

While the Native Americans in this story don't speak like they're in a bad, racist western, Golden Age comics were convinced that Native people in both America and Africa lived exactly as they did centuries ago. When Native Americans are in a story, it might as well be a western, so there's very little difference between this story's setting and the next strip over's (The Golden Arrow) which DOES take place in the Wild West. A small ad to keep reading at the end of the story has Cap in a Native headdress and that racist wampum talk, so it only gets worse. The rest of the issue has strips in "Darkest Africa", etc., so no help there.

From Atom Blake: "The Planet Where Time Stood Still" by Pierce Rice, Wow Comics #5  (March 1942)

While Fawcett is being objectionable, might as well just let Atom Blake, BOY WIZARD, punch a dog. See you next week.
