One Panel #570-571: Fawcett Historicals

From untitled story by Ken Bald, Golden Arrow #1 (1942)

The Golden Arrow had a strip alongside Captain Marvel in Whiz Comics, but like a number of other features, Fawcett gave him his own book for, in his case, 6 issues. He was an archer hero in the Old West. The only images I could find of the first issue was a War Bonds edition in black and white and (on some pages) red. I don't know anything about this, but I do like the effect. Sort of like an engraving. I hope you enjoy it too.

And if you know something about this alternate edition (numbered 11 on the cover), let us know!

From Thrilling Spy Tales: "George Washington, Hope of the Patriots" by unknown creators, Spy Smasher #4 (April 1942)

Spy Smasher was another Fawcett hero with his own title, and it was the company's practice to include one story NOT starring the main hero in ever issue. In this case, they went educational, but still remained within the theme, recounting the story of a famous spy - Benedict Arnold. I also chose a "woodcutty" panel.
