Actually, Aegeus was left off the cover accidentally; George Perez said it wasn't his fault because Aegeus wasn't on the master list they gave him before he started drawing the cover. You can add me to the list of people who find the Omega Men boring as hell.

The split on the two Atoms was interesting. I think Joe Morgan trained Atom (as well as Wildcat and Guardian) because he wanted them to become champion boxers but they kept leaving to become superheroes. (Well, Ted Grant was a boxing champ, but he quit to become Wildcat.) As for Jean Loring, yeah they really went overboard later on with the Eclipso stuff and her killing Sue. (I know, I know ... it never happened.) As for the second Atom's origin, I always thought it was just a rockslide that buried them in the cave, not a villain; they were on some kind of field trip or spelunking thing and a cave-in trapped them, giving Ray the chance to try his new shrinking invention.
