The derby insignia is genius. But what if all the "civilian" sidekicks got costumes? Plastic Woozy! Super-Jimmy! That really tall dude who hangs with Wildcat (Tallcat?). With the rise of the caped sidekick, it could have happened, and in some instances, did. But when the sidekicks have a cartoonish appearance and a body that's atypical for superheroes, it's perhaps too silly to sustain. Except Doiby Dickles did indeed keep using it for a number of issues!
