No disadvantages to Fall? Spoken like someone who doesn't have to rake leaves :) Great episode, as usual; I'm glad the Batcave got some love. (And Siskoid, thanks for including the clip of Batgirl from the old show ... I always liked Yvonne Craig).

Barren Earth was a pretty good series, so I'm glad Jinal got a universal hot. (Ron Randall is great at drawing attractive women, just check out Trekker some time). Unfortunately, the Barren Earth series never actually finished ... in fact, it ended on a cliffhanger. I asked Ron Randall about it in an email a few years ago and he said he always regretted not getting to finish the story, but since he and Gary Cohn have both moved on there's not much chance of a resolution now. Too bad, it was a cool story; the whole "returning to Earth" thing had a bit of a Battlestar Galactica vibe to it.

Important insects like pollinators need that bed of leaves to survive the winter so we don't rake them off.

Even if we had to, I'd rather rake leaves than shovel snow, or step in a slush puddle,or boil in the humid air of Atlantic summers. Saskatchewan is obviously not as humid, which affects snowfall and humidex.

So, the leaves just stay on the lawn all winter? Huh. We've always raked leaves out here. We used to burn them before the by-laws changed; now we just throw them in the compost bin, or pile them around the roses and apple trees as insulation for the winter.

It can get humid here in summer, but it's not like we have an ocean at the end of the lane (to paraphrase Gaiman) like you guys do. And we do get quite a bit of snow, depending on the year. After about a decade of (relatively) light snowfall, we got quite a bit last year, and all the gurus say this winter's going to be another heavy one.

I think it's fair to say weather's gonna be unseasonable from here on out.
