Being a look back at cards from the Star Trek CCG, and what I thought of them back when they were fresh and new... in EPISODE order. Also in the hijacking sequence, a card I didn't get to review back in the day...
EXPANSION: The Motion PicturesPICTURE: It's a bit gray-on-gray and those helmets were always silly (we only got used to the giant bluetooths thanks to Uhura, but you know), however, Tahglio still has things going for him. His size is well-represented by the angle(might things have been even better if Sulu hadn't been digitally removed?), and the lines behind him evoke prison bars - where you're headed if he grabs you. Springing for 3.3.
LORE: What kind of a name is Tahglio? I stared at it a long time before realizing it was an anagram of Goliath and therefore a joke about his being defeated by a physically less imposing Sulu. Clever, but a bit tortured. Otherwise, universality is acknowledged, even if his usefulness isn't. It makes for an amusing joke though. Poor guy. Shouldn'ta bullied Sulu. For the humor, rises to a 4.
TREK SENSE: Representative of Security personnel - guards specifically - working in the Federation (not necessarily Starfleet, but the Staff icon says probably), Tahglio has all the proper icons, classification, and high-ish Strength (Sulu nevertheless took care of him easily). His mission specialty (only skill) is Computer Skill, which is used to check passcodes, lock doors, and so on. I guess. There are lots of skills associated with Officer, Science, Engineer and Medical, but Security is kind of the red-headed stepchild there. Marksman? Slim pickings, so Computer Skill fits his post and will have to do. Calling Sulu "Tiny" is unprofessional so there's a drop in Integrity. He gets fooled, so the same for Cunning. It's fine, but not compelling. A 3.
STOCKABILITY: I've said this often enough. If you're using Movie-era Federation personnel is any old Fed deck, you'll find the universals pretty redundant. The Feds are not only flush with Computer Skill, but have mission specialists and support personnel with the skill already (easy reporting and bonuses with Assign Mission Specialists and Assign Support Personnel, respectively), even if he's the only such mission specialist in SECURITY (you may consider him better than Hobson). But if you're running the sub-affiliation exclusively, you need to rebuild your deck with [MOV]-icon personnel, and Tahglio suddenly finds a reason to exist. If barely. Just a 2.5
TOTAL: 12.6 (63%) What does Sulu think?
