Who's This? A plagiarist.
The facts: The one member of the Heroes of Lallor who got his own entry, Duplicate Boy first appears with his team in Adventure Comics #324 (September 1964) and because he's used as a love interest for Shrinking Violet there, got to appear more frequently than the rest. Not that frequently, however. You had to take it as given that he and Vi were in a long-distance relationship (one Adult Legion story shows them married with children), but he was never around or even mentioned unless it was a story of jealousy (and that one time he and Vi took on the Fatal Five). In the early 80s, Vi used Colossal Boy to set a jealousy trap for him, but that was an imposter (Yera) and the real Violet broke up with him when she was released from captivity for his mishandling of the situation. Though he appeared with the Heroes of Lallor a couple times in the 5YL era, he wasn't a member of the seldom-seen team in the Reboot, and even they don't show up in later iterations of Legion continuity. How you could have heard of him: If you're eagled-eyed and curious, you might have caught him in a Crisis group scene in the New52's Justice League #40 and then tried to find an look up every character in there. That's a might big if.
Example story: Tales of the Legion of Super-Heroes #317 (November 1984) "Once a Hero..." by Paul Levitz, Mandy Newell, George Tuska and Karl Kesel
On Lallor, the boy who can duplicate other people's powers is a bigger deal. He's considered their greatest champion because he once copies - and therefore still has - Superboy's powers. And every Legionnaire's he's ever come in contact with. And all of the Lallorian Heroes'. According to his entry, he's pretty bad at using them in any kind of winning combination. But it's Lallor. The standards are pretty low. According to Astron News, Duplicate Boy's powers vanished a week ago and he hasn't been seen since. Back at Lallor HQ, Gas Girl is convinced it's psychosomatic - Violet dropping him like a stone has given the old boy a case of erectile dysfunction. That gives Evolvo Lad an idea, but first, let's catch up with Ord himself.
#1. WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THAT ROBOT BIRD?! #2. More to the point, dude is still lacking superpowers AND sense. He thinks he doesn't deserve to be a superhero and so, isn't. I think Gas Girl was right on the money. But what about "with great power comes great responsibility?". It's all well and good to deny yourself the fame that obviously came with the role, but what happens when a runaway hovercraft is about to hit a girl in the street? Does that jostle anything loose? No, but it doesn't mean he can't use SKILLS!
But wait, those ARE powers! Timber Wolf's agility and then Superboy's flight. It worked! AND he just had a meet-cute with a cute groupie. I wouldn't call what he says next a POWER move though.
Cringe! Let the uggos die, amirite? And as we find out, this was Evolvo's idea. The runaway vehicle was controlled by Life Lass all along. Hopefully, Luii won't have PTSD from having almost been run over. Dupe Boy got his groove back and that's all that matters.
Or does it? For a macho glory hound, he never made much of a dent even in this part of the DC Universe. We can't even say his powers were well-defined or that, half-page entry or not, he's the most interesting member of the Heroes of Lallor.
Who's Next? Army grunts.
