From Vigilante: "The Feud of Rimfire Ridge" by Mort Meskin and Charles Paris, Action Comics #57 (February 1943)
When you bring a cowboy character forward to the present day (1943) as a "superhero" (or mystery man), everything we think of when we think of cowboys comes into play in a different way. Spurs are used in horse riding, but as "superhero gear", it can now be used in more unusual ways, such as sticking to a tree while he does trapeze tricks.
But honestly, I'm more interested in the tiny, tiny bird who is so astonished wayyyyyy in the background.
