From Sandman: "Crime Carnival!" by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon, Adventure Comics #84 (March 1943)
Behind a really cool cover where Sandman orders everyone not to leave the magazine (as a CRIME has been committed!!!) is what seems to be the very first instance of Jack Kirby drawing a character with stretching powers like Mister Fantastic's! The character is a member of the Crime Carnival (so precursor to the Circus of Crime as well) and is called "Stretcho", which just happens to be Ben Grimm's nickname for Reed Richards.
I love it when this project turns into a bit of comic book archaeology.
