Who's Hot and Who's Not? Ep.23: Celsius to Chemical King

A hot and cold leader. A fantastic quintet. An alien with tingly antennae. A green ape (sometimes). Two feline repeats. One of the gay Legionnaires. Which are hot, which are not? The Girls of the Hot Squad continue evaluating Who's Who #4's entries based on sheer datability.

Featuring permanent panelists Elyse, Isabel, Josée, Nathalie, Shotgun, and Amelie.

Another great episode. I think John Byrne was the one that tried to fuck with the Doom Patrol's past, saying that the Chief orchestrated the accidents that created the original Doom Patrol and all that crap, but later writers mostly ignored those revisions.

I think they altered Changeling's name back to Beast Boy to de-age him; really he should be well into in his twenties by now, but they want to keep him (and everyone else) eternally young, so they keep resetting him to his early teens. I'd never noticed that joke about his marital status being "desperate", but it certainly fits, as Wolfman always wrote Gar hitting on every woman around him ... usually not in a charming way.

After hearing the girls' thoughts on Chemical King I can't wait for the Shrinking Violet reaction. I remember those Hostess ads fondly; Dan Slott had a good joke about that in the Spider-Man/Human Torch mini-series, with Red Ghost's Super-Apes getting defeated because they stopped to eat some Hostess Fruit Pies (and they also stole the Spider-Mobile ... very nostalgic for people our age, Siskoid).

No it's way before. Kupperberg, then Morrison, did stuff to impugn Celsius' claims.
