Robin vs. Jubilee Fight Analysis

I can't believe they let the kids participate, but these entities don't seem to have any morals.

For Marvel: Jubilee
At her best? Certainly at the height of her popularity, with the X-Men cartoon minting her in people's minds as Wolverine's sidekick.
Her advantage: That ol' X-factor. She has relatively weak powers, but she has powers. Also, would Tim really hit a girl?

For DC: Robin
At his best?
It's Tim Drake, the first Robin to get his own ongoing series. It's in its first year, but he's coming off three successful mini-series.
His advantage: Trained by Batman. Also, Jubilee has a crush on him.

Why this match? The publishers' two most prominent young sidekicks (which goes to show Marvel isn't big on this idea).
Were they Amalgamated? Yes, they were turned into Sparrow, the Dark Claw's sidekick, featuring in both Legends of the Dark Claw and the next year's animated-style Dark Claw Adventures.
What if they fought their Amalgam Buddy? They did.
If DC vs. Marvel had been fought today: Robin would now be Damian (ruthless mini-assassin), but Jubilee has too small of a footprint to be included. Looking at young heroes derived from older ones, they would probably have used Miles Morales' Spider-Man, or if they didn't want to do two spider-fights, perhaps Ms. Marvel (keeping the boy/girl match-up). Alternatively, Nightwing is a bigger deal now than then, and as a former Robin, could have taken the spot and been pitted against Daredevil. I can't eyeball the results of any of these fights.

Play by Play: This is perhaps the most interesting set-up because an earlier issue had Jubilee crush on Robin, and as they wait for the match to begin, they take a walk, as friends. It's very sweet, as is the kiss she gives him before the fight begins.
Of course, whoever plays the Robin role is enough of an acrobat to at least dodge Jubilee's fireworks, and though Tim wasn't raised as one like Dick, he's the first Robin to have a stealthy cape. Here, he takes it off and uses it to lure Jubilee into position, then bat-lines her into submission (hey, whoa, we need a chaperone over here!).
Result: It's Robin's win and he never had to throw a punch, nor let any fireworks even touch him. This was perhaps a foregone conclusion. He's highly trained and has a solo book to show for it. She's part of a team, which encourages specialists who depend on team work to get through a fight. Good on Tim for not letting that kiss bamboozle him. Not that it was meant in a Fatale kind of way. Indeed, it seems like it was Jubilee who was most distracted by hormones. Well, it could cost her a universe...

Next time: We're going Cosmic!
