Earlier this month, the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, NY nominated three news toys to its National Toy Hall of Fame. The Stick!Give it up for 'im!

Yes, the lowly wooden stick. Free in most environments. As useful to artists as it is to warriors. It can be a writing implement, a machine gun, part of a fort, an antenna, a sword, a wizard's staff, a witch's broom, a horse, a pole vault... uhm... pole, and lots more besides.
Thanks its longevity and ability to spark the imagination like no other piece of inanimate matter, the stick has become a world icon. I've always hated Monopoly, and your enjoyment of the Baby Doll may vary, but there's nothing like a good whacking stick, is there?

LONG LIVE THE STICK!!!

The stick is the one toy I consistently had while growing up, because if it broke I could always get another one. Yay for the stick!
J'trouve ça presque insultant que le bout de bois était dans la section "insolite" de cyberpresse...
