Buys

Lots! New DVDs include Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder (I'll get all Futurama material until they stop making them), Choke (I'm a fan of the book, but the movie stayed in theaters all of 1.2 seconds), and Synecdoche New York (a Charlie Kaufman script? I'm there... but can he direct? We'll see!)

In the Doctor Who corner of the multiverse, I bought the Key to Time boxed set, despite having the original six DVDs from back when they were only available in Region 1 (that's a switch!). I figured if I could get them for the equivalent of less than 15$ apiece, and get all that extra material sorely lacking from the original releases (there are even two new commentary tracks to add to the original six), then I would. So I did.

The buck doesn't stop there thanks to the purchase of the Torchwood television soundtrack (but it's the back ordered Doctor Who Season 4 CD I really want), and the entire Classic Doctors and Monsters Set of 6' action figures. It includes Doctors 4 through 6, the Robots of Death SV7 and D84, a Zygon, a Sea Devil (my favorite), Magnus Greel and Mr Sin from Talons of Weng-Shiang, and in each blister pack, a piece of the Robot from "Robot". He's so awkward, he's perfect!
Bizarrely, the 5th Doctor doesn't have celery on his lapel. Apparently, the designer didn't like it, and Peter Davison is well known for not liking it, so they just stared at each other across a table not saying anything and hoping the other guy wouldn't either.

"Accomplishments"

I flipped Season 1 of Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Billie Piper's Showtime erotica series based on the best-selling book of a similar name. I'd seen most episodes on tv, but the 8 short episodes provided light entertainment once again. Sure, there's nudity and simulated sex, but the real reason to watch is the comedy. Secret Diary is a stylish and sassy tell-all with a heart thanks to the focus on Hannah's friendship with Ben. Not much in the way of extras, only an interview with Piper in which she admits she can't really sing, but it's probably smart not to make actors dish out uncomfortable commentary over their sex scenes.

I also read Spock Must Die! which I talked about this morning.

New Unauthorized Doctor Who CCG cards: 15, all from The Long Game, including a homage to Shaun of the Dead.
Someone Else's Post of the Week
Bully found out something disturbing while riffling through old Fantastic Four comics, and he just had to let us know about. It's entitled "No, Johnny, No!: The Inappropriate Loves of Jonathan Spencer Storm" and it will either make you laugh or creep you out. Or both.

Ah, the call to buy those action figures - it catches the best of us...

A Peter Davison figure with lapel celery was a convention exclusive figure. Had many a collector in a tizzy that they couldn't buy one at a reasonable price.

Yes, it's available in a Time Crash 2 pack.

I spotted a few of your toys during the awards, and a glimpse of Rom too.

There's a big stack of Rom in the living room. Of course.
